Parenting a Chronically Ill Child

The purpose of this research is to gain a better understanding of factors that may influence the stress that parents of children with cancer experience.

Participating individuals will be asked to complete questionnaires related to various ways parents cope with the stress of parenting a chronically ill child. The survey will take an estimated 30 minutes to complete. Participation in this project is completely voluntary.

By investigating the potential factors related to parenting during a child’s active cancer treatment, we can gain information that can be used to increase positive family outcomes. Identifying mothers who are at an increased risk of parental stress and identifying the factors that potentially decrease the risk of stress can lead to better intervention and prevention in the future. In addition, the information obtained from this research can be used to inform future research endeavors. An incentive for participation is a one-dollar donation toward pediatric cancer research for every completed survey.
